About the 2nd Global Conference on Dental care

Innovating Smiles: Advancing Dental Research and Innovation from Global to ASEAN Perspectives

The 2nd Global Conference on Dental Care, set in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 03-04 Nov 2025 , is an exciting convergence of international and regional expertise in the ever-evolving world of dental science.Dental research is critical not only in advancing preventive and restorative treatments but also in understanding the complexities of oral diseases and their impacts on general health. While the global dental landscape sees continuous progress in technology and techniques, there are significant challenges that remain in Access to Care and Health Inequities, Oral Health and Systemic Diseases, Aging Populations and Oral Care, and Sustainability and environmental impact of Dental Materials and Implants across diverse regions. Research into bio-compatible, sustainable dental materials is growing, with advancements in eco-friendly alternatives gaining traction globally. Global Burden of Disease (GBD) findings have revealed that untreated common oral conditions like untreated caries, severe periodontitis, and total tooth loss remain a significant global health challenge, with evidence of inequalities.

Malaysia, alongside the broader ASEAN region, is playing an instrumental role in driving research and development, with a strong focus on Public Awareness and Preventive Dental Care, Digital Dentistry, Oral Health Policy and Regulation and Training and Education of Dental Professionals. The Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia has launched the National Oral Health Strategic Plan 2022-2030, alongside a Strategic Plan to Reduce Sugar Among Malaysians (2024-2030). In Malaysia, specific challenges include disparities in oral healthcare-seeking behaviors between urban and rural populations. Geographic factors significantly influence access to healthcare, contributing to gaps in health equity. Besides that, in Malaysia, there is limited study done on the problems related to Work-related Musculoskeletal Symptoms among dental auxiliaries.

Dental 2025 will provide a unique opportunity to explore these challenges and solutions, discuss innovative research breakthroughs, and build partnerships that will push the boundaries of what is possible in dental care globally and regionally. Together, we will shape a future where dental research is integrated with health policy, technology, and community well-being, ensuring healthier smiles for generations to come.
