Biography

Dr Ron Cörvers is an Associate Professor with expertise in governance and sustainable development, global agricultural value chains, and (technology-enhanced) learning for sustainability. He is strongly interested in inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration to address sustainability issues. Currently, he leads the Fair and Smart Data research programme, which aims to improve smallholder farmers' living conditions and livelihood assets by using modern data technologies, new business models, and good governance of global supply chains as drivers for systemic change. Holding a PhD in Public Administration and Nature Development (2001), an MSc in Environmental Geography (1990), and a Teacher’s Qualification in Geography and History (1987), he can cross boundaries between disciplines and organisations. In addition to research and education, he has fulfilled several managerial roles, such as the Scientific Director (2013-2021) of the Maastricht Sustainability Institute at Maastricht University.
