Biography

Mona I. Shaaban is a Prof. of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Mansoura University Egypt with expertise in Microbiology and Molecular biology. Known as an expertise in the Microbiology field. Mona is dedicated to work on combating microbial virulence through the elimination of bacterial cell signaling and suppression of microbial resistance via the study of resistance mechanisms and applying various approaches for combating microbial resistance (nanometal, and study antimicrobial combinations with WHO approved medications as alternative strategy for hindering microbial resistance). She had a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mansoura University / Egypt through a joint supervision scholarship with the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States of America. Mona Shaaban received the University Award for Excellence in Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences 2022. She has over 50 research papers published in international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. She is also an outstanding associate editor of Frontiers in Microbiology and a reviewer for many international journals such as PLOS One, Microorganisms, Antibiotics, Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Microbiology, Microbial Pathogenies, and other journals and institutions such as STDF. Mona Shaaban is supervising graduate students (MSc and PhD students) and participating in patents and working PI and CoPI in research funded projects. She is also an invited speaker at international conferences. In addition, Mona Shaaban has experience in teaching both undergraduate and graduate students, in addition to engaging in community service through organizing infection prevention campaigns and microbiology forums.
